How Astrology Works
Most people know their Sun sign (it’s what is being referenced
when the “Hey, what’s your sign?” question comes up), but not
everyone understands exactly how it fits into the constructs of
the astrology chart.
A client’s personality is a composite of three main factors: their Sun sign, their Moon sign and their rising sign or “ascendant,” which is the sign that was coming over the horizon at the time of their birth.
If you think of a personality in terms of a house, the Sun sign is the foundation on which it is built and the structure that holds it together, the Moon sign is the inside of the house and the rising sign is the facade we show to the outside world.
Planetary placement within the houses and signs on our “natal chart” (the placement of the heavenly bodies at the moment of our birth) provide additional idiosyncrasies to our personalities.
It is believed that the “progression” of the chart, meaning where the planets are currently or on any given day, affect each person differently based on its comparison to the “natal chart.” Predictions can be made by charting the energy and typical occurrences based on the position of the planets, etc, compared to the natal chart or birth chart. Certain Sun signs react differently to specific astrological events and it is through these associations that daily horoscopes are created.
